Liknande låga skåp med välvda dörrar framför hyllplan var ämnande till matsalen i Frankrike på 1700-talet. Möjligtvis har auktionens skåp haft samma funktion. De förekommer sällan i Sverige, men visar hur kunnigt svenska mästare kunde ta upp det franska modet. Skåpens avancerade utförande och de karakteristiska marmorskivornas profiler talar för att Gottlieb Iwersson (mästare i Stockholm 1778-1813) är mästaren bakom skåpen. Han var vid sidan av Georg Haupt en av den gustavianska tidens skickligaste möbelsnickare. Iwersson blev förutom sina höggustavianska möbler med rika inläggningar, känd för att tillverka sengustavianska möbler i mahogny med väl avvägda proportioner.
